Services
Tree Removal
When the time comes, don't risk doing it yourself or hiring a “handyman” for a tree removal. When a tree is in diseased, infested, dying or has simply grown to a size that is encroaching on your home or other buildings, it may be time to get it out of the way so it doesn't affect the rest
of the trees, bushes, plants or property. Anyone can cut a tree down. To do it without an emergency room visit or damage to other property is the real skill. We have honed that skill over twenty years and thousands of trees. All our employees are professionals, extensively trained in the art and science of taking your tree down in the safest, most efficient way possible.

Services
Plant Health Care
Plant Health Care broadens the focus from healthy trees and shrubs to all the plants on your property. Proper management of hydration, nutrition, bug and disease control can make your landscaping look better, longer.
We will build a custom program for your property to ensure that you are getting the best treatment for the plants you have and you're not paying for plants or problems you don't have.
We balance our plans to address a variety of challenges. No cookie-cutter plans with Bluders Tree Service. Our goal is to stabilize and then maintain your landscaping. Some plants may require an aggressive treatment plan to get them back to health, while others may be thriving and simply need a little maintenance like trimming or root care. A professionally maintained landscape will last longer and be healthier in the long run.

Services
Pruning / Trimming / Cabling and Bracing
It could be from constant wind, snow damage or just the weight of branches that cause the tree or shrub to stray off the straight and narrow. A tree or bush that is not growing straight will cause a lot of problems down the road. Not only for the tree but possibly for other areas of your property as well. A leaning tree has excessive weight on one side. This can cause the tree to be uprooted during wind or snow storms. In some cases the weight of unbalanced branch growth is enough to
allow the branches or entire tree to snap off unexpectedly, causing damage to surrounding trees, bushes, plants, house or buildings. Proper tree pruning, cabling and bracing can bring a damaged tree back from the brink. By pruning away the dead wood, bracing areas that are unbalanced and developing a cable plan that will pull the tree back to vertical, you can avoid the expense of replacing the tree and maintain the look of your yard as you had planned it.

Services
Tree Installation / Mulching
Our certified arborists will work with you from the planning stage through the planting and maintenance of your new tree. Engaging with an arborist early in the design will help with the selection of a tree or shrubbery that is suited for the new location both environmentally and aesthetically. Selecting a species of tree or bush uniquely suited to your location (dry, wet, hot, cold, shade, sun) will ensure that it will be there and will be healthy as long as possible.
Bluders Tree Service also offers annual Mulching. There are a variety of benefits to putting down a 2-4” layer of mulch around your trees and shrubs every year. Mulch provides a protection layer that holds in moisture for your plant roots. That protective layer also helps moderate temperature fluctuations. This can be especially important in the spring and fall when we see temperature swings of 30 or 40 degrees during a day. Finally, mulch crowds out weeds and grasses that compete for water and nutrition with trees and bushes. By creating a blanket of coverage with mulch, we starve the weeds and grasses of sunlight which hinders, and in many cases, arrests their growth entirely. Mulch is an organic, natural and eco-friendly way to manage weeds while helping your trees and bushes stay healthy.

Services
Tree Survey / Preservation
A tree survey is a cataloging of all information about the trees on a given property.
A survey may be required to get a building permit or for a site plan, or for an area that is being designated a preserve. Our Certified Arborist will conduct the survey in accordance with local requirements and arborial best practices. A Tree Survey may include, but is not limited to the following information:
•Tree Species
•Tree Size (in DBH)
•Tree Condition
•Tree Location on property, relative to property lines, buildings, other trees etc..
•Trees will be tagged with I.D. Tags as necessary and required by the plan
•Final report outlining current conditions, issues and recommended plans as appropriate

Pre and Post-Construction Best Practices
We've all seen it. Huge, established trees in a typical neighborhood that get damaged during a remodel, tear down or new construction. Part of the value of the property you are planning on building on is the trees. They are the consummate icon of longevity and stability. Tear the bark off a classic old elm or maple with a Bobcat and it won't be too long before that beautiful old tree will need to be replaced. Typically with a sapling.
While old trees may look indestructible, they are very susceptible to the stresses of being disrupted. While injured bark is an obvious damage that can be seen, there are a number of other impacts that are less obvious, but can have a similar outcome. Damage to critical roots, soil compacted around roots, and new sun and wind exposures can all have a negative effect on the health of a historic tree. Without observing best practices for tree and shrub maintenance during construction, the negative effects may not be seen for several years. Don't lose your trees to construction site negligence. Have Approved Tree Care come out today to evaluate and put a construction plan in place so you can keep those trees and shrubs where they are now and generations to come.

Emerald Ash Borer Prevention
If you have spent any time in the Chicagoland area over the last two decades you know the devastation the Emerald Ash Borer and Dutch Elm Disease have caused. The Emerald Ash Borer is a beetle, originally from Asia, that has gotten a foothold in the Ash tree population in and around Chicagoland. The adult beetle is a little longer than 1/4” inch long and a 1/16” wide and is shaped like a bullet; narrow and pointed at the tail end and wide and squared off at the head. The beetle
is colored metallic kelly green. While the adult Emerald Ash Borer beetles feast on the leaves in the canapy of the tree, larvae do an equal if not greater amount of damage inside the tree. When the larvae hatch, they dig a hole through the bark of the Ash tree and start burrowing and eating, just under the bark layer. These “tunnels” disrupt the tree to such a degree that coupled with the foliage loss to the adult beetles, Ash trees have been decimated at a truly alarming rate around the country and specifically in the Chicagoland area. An Emerald Ash Borer colony can kill an otherwise healthy tree in as little 3 years. If you see the Emerald Ash Borer beetle or the tell-tale holes in your Ash trees, get in touch with Approved Tree Care as soon as possible. With several prescriptive and preventative treatments at our disposal, we have had a high success rate at bringing trees back from the brink and treating them against further infestation.

Dutch Elm Disease
Dutch Elm Disease is carried by the Elm Bark Beetle (Scolytus multistriatus). The beetle itself is destructive to the trees, but the Dutch Elm Disease fungus is the really deadly culprit. As the fungus infects the tree layer that carries water and nutrients to and from the rest of the tree, the tree's own defense mechanism becomes its downfall.
In an effort to block the fungus from spreading, the tree “plugs” areas of this vascular network. Eventually, enough of the
network is plugged that water and nutrients will not make it to the rest of the tree and they will start to die. A good example of an initial symptom of Dutch Elm Disease infection in an Elm tree is when the leaves on an upper branch in the canopy will start to yellow and the branch starts to whither in the summer, prime growth and green season.
Several instances in a single tree or across multiple trees indicate advanced infection with immediate treatment and preventative measures needed. Bluders Tree Service has the experience, tools and permits to combat Dutch Elm Disease in infected trees, and to prevent infection before it happens.
